This Master Plan was conceived by government officials on the County Planning Commission and by citizens on the Telluride Regional Planning Advisory Committee over a period of several years in the 1970's and 80's. This long-range plan for San Miguel County includes many innovative concepts.
The Master Plan puts a cap on the maximum number of beds that will be allowed in the San Miguel Valley. Total build-out permits 21,000 beds, including both permanent residents and tourists. At present we have 6,000 tourist beds available and a total permanent population of 6,000; therefore we are a little over halfway to completion.
