After
15 years of design and construction work (the town was
incorporated in 1987), the Mountain Village Core has changed from
a concept to a reality, and is quickly becoming an active, mature,
European-style walking village.
The Village Core, a European-Like
Walking Village, contains many luxury condominiums and
residence clubs, including the world-class Peaks Hotel
and Spa, the Fairmont Hertage Place
- Franz Klammer Lodge, and the Inn at
Lost Creek. The $8 million Performing Arts Center was
completed in 1999 and has proven itself an invaluable asset to
the community, serving as the site for visiting performers, conventions,
and both community and private functions.
The high-end Heritage
Crossing condominium project located on the Plaza is
completed, and the Plaza itself has undergone a beautiful
renovation.
The Village Core is
coming to life more and more each year. During its initial
growth and development the Village Core had only moderate social
and business activity, yet now, with on-going growth and development,
the Village Core bustles each summer and winter with a
variety of events and activities.
In the summer time, from Culinary
Arts, Chamber Music and Film, the Village Core is a strong
focal-point of summer social and cultural activities.
During ski season, a variety
of winter events are celebrated in the Village Core. From Snow
Fest and Winter Holiday festivities
to ski and board competitions, locals and visitors
bring a high level of activity that brings to life the ambience
of a European-style walking village.
Businesses in Mountain
Village continue to work at finding ways to bring visitors to
the core in the off-season.
