The plan for these areas doesn't just include homes and physical structures, it also includes open spaces. If a piece of land is available for development in the Telluride area, there is a use already designated. There are protected open spaces throughout the region, kept open for the preservation of natural habitats. Forest and wetland areas are protected as well.
